The quality of the companion novel for season one is all that I expected from Jerry B. Jenkins. He has stayed true to the story line while adding depth by expressing thoughts and feelings of individual characters. Both the series and the novel show the uniqueness of Jesus being fully God and fully human and a glimpse of the degree that He loves us. I feel like I am there, seeing their struggles through difficult times and the peace that Jesus bestows. Hopefully, the season 2 novel will be available soon! (I have dvds of seasons 1 and 2. The special of season 1 was a birthday gift last year) The whole project helps me with my regular Bible study and gives me a fresh approach and enthusiasm to encourage others to "Come and See". This book is different from other usual commentaries or devotionals on the life of Jesus. It gives you a common & ordinary approach to thinking about the people who followed him as he fulfilled his ministry work on earth. So you read about Him, as well as, those He chose to follow him. It all had a reason & purpose behind it! The perspectives in this book are fresh and cause me to look at Scripture in a new way. Even though I’ve watched the first season at least three times, the ability to slowly ponder each word of the script in novel form brought a deeper understanding and discovery to the story line. I also liked how it showed some of the thoughts behind the actors’ actions that aren’t able to be played out in the screen.
